Background
Dr. Wendell G. Rayburn, Sr. is a Senior Associate of Penson Associates and is former president of Savannah State College in Georgia and of Lincoln University in Missouri. Dr. Rayburn also served in senior level positions at the University of Detroit, as Associate Dean for Academic Support Programs, and at the University of Louisville.
For several years, Dr. Rayburn served as a facilitate or and faculty member in the AASCU New residents’ Academy and the Experience Presidents’ Academy He has a special understanding of teacher education having spent eleven years as a science teacher and administrator within the Detroit Public Schools. He also has extensive experience in program development for minority and disadvantaged students.
Dr. Rayburn received the Wayne State University Alumni Association 1993 Distinguished Alumni Awa rd. He has had two presidential appointments to the Board of International Food and Agriculture u Development (BIFAD) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (AID). He was the first Missouri president to serve two consecutive terms as Chair of the Missouri Council on Public Higher Education.
His areas of expertise include executive coaching, presidential assessment, human relations and team building for deans & department Chairs.
Dr. Rayburn earned degrees from, Eastern Michigan State University (B.A.), The University of Michigan (M.A.), and Wayne State University (Ed.D.).
