Dr. Edward Penson is the founder of Penson Associates, Inc., Honorary Senior Scholar and Associate of Penson Associates, Inc., and is President Emeritus of Salem College in Massachusetts and Chancellor Emeritus of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Dr. Penson is a nationally known consultant in higher education and mentor to numerous university presidents and chancellors and their boards. He continues to serve as an advisor and professional resource to the firm, even though he no longer formally works for the firm.
Dr. Penson first served as faculty member, later as Dean of Branch Campuses, and then as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Services at Ohio University. Dr. Penson was an active faculty member at Ohio University. During that period on the faculty, he was selected as one of the University’s Outstanding Faculty members. He was elected as Vice President of the Faculty Senate and as the Senate’s President, before accepting appointment as dean.
Ed was the founding coordinator and lead faculty member of the Presidents' Academy for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) for a decade and went on to found and lead the Presidents' Academy for Experienced Presidents. Ed is the author of Board and President: Facilitating the Relationship, published by AASCU. His manual, Presidential Review in Colleges and Universities, is in great demand around the country. His work, Driving Forces Strategic Visioning, is used by many institutions. He is the author of many protocols and papers that aid the work of presidents, boards, and state system executives.
Dr. Penson earned a B.A. degree from the University of Florida, a M.S. from Ohio University, and a PhD. from the University of Florida.
